SKiNFoLK: An American Show

Spark Festival, Pitsburgh Clo 2018

In a rabbit hole in the floor of a jOok joint, ‘SKiNFoLK: An American Show’ is a concert-play that explores the manic clash of class + colorism through the semi-fictional ancestry of YOU, ME and AVERY (with special guest appearances from RICHARD NIXON). Based on found documents, mythical light-skinned movie stars, and hair rituals, SKiNFoLK blurs boundaries of selfhood and tinkers with the space between audience and performer to reflect back to US the messiness of American identity and all we reckon with in its wake.
